Servant of God Bows

These bows are made from American wood by an American bowyer. No shipping from overseas, minimal child labor, minimal fuel and shipping burden, no corporate scams, just American wood and 100% of your dollars going into American builder hands.

Owner, Phil, with my first red oak bow, which I still own, although it is now a recurve with abalone shell arrow pass inlay.

50 pound bows from natural staves.

Holmegaard [pyramid]

A 60 pound Holmegaard bow of an exceptional ash stave.

American flatbow

An american flat bow of an exceptional red oak board. It is made 50 pounds at 26 inches, but I draw it to 28, so it took some String Follow.

Last, but certainly not least, comes the bend through the handle “D bow,” which is like this modern bowyer’s version of a Cherokee, Powhatan, or Creek war bow from the picture books, or sometimes like the D bow pictured in my prologue to this catalogue.

Here are two different examples of D Bows from page 65 of the Traditional Bowyer’s Bible Volume 2

Bows from staves.
$500- For white woods, which are Ash (my personal favorite), Cherry, Hazel  occasionally holly as well.
$600- Black Locust, White Oak, occasionally black walnut
$800- Yew, occasionally hawthorne
$900- Osage orange, hickory [I do not stock Osage orange or Hickory staves, and so lead times are extended for these bows.]

$1000- Occasionally, I will have a piece of some rare exotic, such as PNW Ocean spray, Laburnum, fruit tree, or Elderberry, which are often full of character and make top rate bows that are one of a kind and sure to turn heads! I can also produce character pieces of many common woods for this price, but even the straight staves from exotics also go for this  “character bow” price, so I lump them together.

Note: What I intend to be “standard” pricing, shown in this booklet, reflects 50 pound at 28 inch draw length, therefore longer draw lengths and especially heavier weights may be custom orders, with accompanying bids from me for pricing on each additional feature that you want before we agree to anything.

Plain Red Oak D-bows Up to 50 pounds, and up to 28 inch draw are $300!!

These bows are fun, accurate, dependable, and bows just like them have put meat on the table for several millennia. “Pick up one of these and learn to shoot with it, and you will join a nearly unbroken line of paternal and maternal ancestors for ten thousand years [at least].” ~paraphrased from Traditional Bowyer’s Bible Volume 4

Cherokee women and men alike were known to deer hunt recreationally with 30 to 50 pound D bows. They are fast, sweet on release, and deathly quiet.

Additional design features.

Recurves can be added to most bows for $200

Here are some varying recurve/reflex shapes.

Note: above prices are for bare wooden handles.

$100- Laced leather grip [I can also add custom tooling or carving such as in the photos below, per hour on custom bow orders with leather grips.]

A tooled leather grip for the bow named “Pearl”

$40- Strip of buckskin. This is how I wrap my handles on my personal bows.

This suede/buckskin grip is soaked completely with melted flooring wax along with the bow to seal it. It all beads water in the rain.

A Hunter spirit carved into your top nock- $40

Hunter spirits take little time, but only get one shot, and if botched, would need to be discarded and another stave selected.

Any other questions that are impossible to satisfy through the ordering process, please signal chat BigPhil.96 on Signal Messenger. You can also place an order by that means. You may also place an order through email at rootintootinsolutions@gmail.com or through any of which social media you first contacted my wife on.

Any questions for the bowyer or talks about specifications will be funneled to Signal Messenger or Email.

Thank you

Lead times are about 2 weeks to finish, 3 weeks to shipped.

I can also make to order personalized shooting tutorials. Any sort of specialized or personalized shooting, bowmaking, arrowmaking, bow care, or other primitive skills you are interested in, if I know something of it, I can teach you. You would then permanently have the link to a private YouTube shooting tutorial with that video’s private comments section as a chat platform for 20 dollars each.

Often I may be able to help out my customers in such ways for free over Youtube and Signal Messenger, at least for most people who have bought my equipment.

A free video tutorial focused on care and use instructions, including archery form the way I personally do it, comes with each new bow and also with each set of premium arrows.

Each of my new or custom bows comes with one of my no-frills Rock, Shoot, and Arrow basic target arrows.

As you grow as a shooter, arrowmaker, flintknapper or bowyer, more instructions can be made.

Back to business.

Tip overlays.
Wooden-$100
Horn- $150
Antler- $200
Note: Yew bows always come with wooden tip overlays at no extra charge, but horn overlays could then be substituted for $50 extra, for example.

Top 3: black locust over hazel, middle two: red oak over yew, bottom two: antler over maple.

I do not do horn nocks as the English did, because I am not English, and so I find it to be heavy (slows arrow speed), tacky, and crass, as well as  the fact that each one requires the tip of a new horn, and so is also wasteful. This is just my opinion, and thus, I don’t do them to order, and occasionally I will be able to do one here and there when a horn is used up and I have a a pair of tips.

Arrow shelves.

Glued on arrow shelves can be supplied and installed for relatively cheaply, although I never recommend them for inexperienced shooters of self-bows, as shooting off of the knuckle allows for flawless arrow nocking ppint tuning by the feel of it, which I outline in my tutorials. Without this, one must rely on high speed cameras, or cell phone footage to tune arrows. Nonetheless, I will and do make, and sometimes shoot arrow shelf bows.

Natural material stick-on arrow shelf (with my buckskin strip wrap included)- $100

If you want it wrapped with a single square piece of buckskin laced at the back- $150
______________ )  >>—>

Built-in wooden arrow shelfs and sight boxes.

These bows require special staves, and special treatment. I do everything I can to talk people out of them, and into something more natural, but if you must have a built in shelf, then it must be done correctly.

Built-in arrow shelf- $500

Note Bows with arrow shelfs are tillered to an inch past YOUR draw length, but carry no warranty. So if it breaks, it would have to be very apparent to both of us that it was my fault in order to gain my sympathy.

I must unfortunately require a $200 deposit, up front, or 20% of the total cost for orders over $1000 to get you into the book, along with your name, shipping address, and an appointment to have a bow sizing and order video chat for some difficult, or intricate custom orders

Osage orange and hickory- The cost of the stave must be prepaid by the customer at the same time as the deposit is paid, because I do not live in Osage orange or hickory wood growing country, and thus we will select and purchase your stave unless you care to send us one, which would reduce your cost greatly, but would also increase your risk, because I give no guarantee on any one piece of wood, and the most common woods which I can harvest myself comw wirh a guarantee of a bow, not an attempt at a stave.

If I break your hickory or osage stave that I have selected, for defect in stave, I will go halves with you on the second one, or I may replace it at my own cost as we sometimes must do when we admittedly make a blunder.

Any 200 dollar or 20% deposit with a finished bow balance left unpaid for 30 days will be forfeit, and you must then buy your bow back at full price on the auction, or piss off. Either way you will unfortunately do so without your deposit. I am sorry I must be this way about the matter of payments.
Thank you so much for your understanding.

Any new or custom bow comes with a 6 month maker’s warranty, and it would be on your honor that no one has overdrawn or abused the bow causing it to break, as I have seen the extreme rigors that these tools will suffer before breaking. I have also seen a bow that looked relatively sound snap on a cold dry day. If anything like that is going to happen, it will happen pretty quick, in which case, you will get a replacement bow and an upgrade feature immediately, no questions asked.

Please wear safety glasses, arm guards, and finger tabs, thumb rings, or finger protecting shooter gloves when practicing archery.

The Sun light your way. Happy shooting!
